Graduate Profile

From Todd Horton (Ph.D., 2000)
"Postcard from Ontario"

Greetings one and all from North Bay, Ontario! So much has happened since I flew out of Vancouver on August 15th. I was homeless for the remainder of August and only got my apartment on Sept. 1st. At any rate, I have arrived and am now hard at work at Nipissing University.

Nipissing University offers a small, warm atmosphere with the friendliest people you could imagine. They are also incredibly efficient at what they do. The faculty orientation was very well organised and people pretty much hop right to you to help out in any way they can. I give them excellent marks! However, I'm trying to adjust to life in North Bay itself. Despite my having lived in Fredericton, N.B. and in Toronto, Ont. I'm finding it a bit of a culture shock. Nestled on the shores of Lake Nipissing (80 miles long and about 4 miles wide) it is a sleepy little city of 60,000 people. It's definitely not my beloved Vancouver. Still, I'm looking on the bright side looking forward to discovering the unique character of this community. Stay tuned!

That's all for now. I welcome all contacts from the west coast and look forward to seeing you upon my return visit in December.

Cheers to one and all,
Todd Horton
