Graduate Profile
JACQUI
GINGRAS
Ph.D.
Student

In
January of 2002, I started my PhD at CSCI. My purpose in starting
this research was to understand the process of professional socialization
that dietitians experience throughout their undergraduate education,
internship, and beyond. I'm also interested in clarifying how and/or
if this socialization process influences the nutrition messages
that health professionals provide to the general public.
Of
course, I have some theories about what I may find based on my own
experience as a woman in the field of dietetics. My autobiography
contributes an essential voice in my research along with the stories
of other dietitians, interns, and students.
Currently,
I'm taking courses and working on funding proposals for my future
research project. My current co-supervisors are Dr.
Gwen Chapman, Associate Professor, Food, Nutrition & Health
and Dr.
Karen Meyer, Associate Professor, Department of Curriculum Studies.
